About Greg
Greg Taylor was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State University, where he majored in Film and Television. After graduating, Greg worked as a professional drummer in such State College bands as Silent Way (jazz) and MorningSong (whose lone vinyl album can still be found on ebay!)
Greg eventually put down his sticks and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. First finding work as a television set costumer, Greg wrote screenplays in his free time. His first produced script was ‘Prancer’. Since then, Greg’s credits include ‘Jumanji’, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Harriet the Spy’, and, most recently, ‘Prancer: A Christmas Tale’.
Greg’s first book, ‘Killer Pizza’, was published by the Macmillan imprint Feiwel and Friends. The book was selected for eight state library lists. Two sequels, ‘Killer Pizza: The Slice’ and ‘Killer Pizza: Vampire Stakes’, followed, as well as the standalone novel, ‘The Girl Who Became A Beatle’.
Greg is also a playwright. For his adaptation of the stage version of Prancer, which premiered at the Rose Children’s Theater in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2016, Greg received the Omaha Theater Arts Guild award for Outstanding New Script. Since Prancer’s premiere and initial run, the play has been performed at community theaters throughout the US.*
Greg is married, with two children and two grandchildren. He and his wife live in a leafy enclave in the Golden State of California.
* If there is a community theater in your town that might be interested in staging Prancer, information is available at playsfornewaudiences.org
